Active threat mitigation is entirely customizable and can be tailored to fit your exact needs. But no matter the configuration, it’s always based on the three C’s: cover, concealment, and communication.
Mass Notification
Communication during an active threat situation is critical to resolving the threat as soon as possible. A key element of the 3D Response System is the police button, which triggers alarms, notifies local law enforcement, and activates door security. With our integrated police button, everyone in the building and emergency responders will know there’s a threat.
Enhanced Visitor Management
Keeping threats out of your building is the best defense against an active threat. 3D Response provides enhanced visitor management through breach-resistant windows and ballistics features at points of entry. In addition to protection, the 3D Response Suspect Identification System creates concealment between the staff inside the school and any violent subjects. The subject is also easily identifiable by law enforcement.
Door Securing Hardware
Our system includes a number of door security measures customized to your building’s needs. By pressing the police button, staff activate 1,200 pounds of magnetic pressure to keep doors closed and secure. Once activated, the magnetic pressure does not allow entry, but staff will still be able to exit from the inside.
Window Enhancements
Our team will assess your building and make recommendations for breach-resistant and shatterproof glass wherever windows are located. This includes high-risk areas like entryways, hallways, and office spaces to ensure maximum protection. There are a range of options that we can recommend based on our years of experience.
Strategic Ballistic Products and Features
Customized ballistic panels and features are worked into the landscape of your building to provide maximum protection in the event of an active threat. Depending on the room design, we can customize protective pocket doors, hinged panels, barn doors, and knee walls—anything that provides additional places for safe cover during an active threat.
Safe Areas
During an active threat, a light will turn on in each room indicating where staff and students should stand to take advantage of the room’s ballistics protection. This easily identifiable safe area eliminates confusion, providing more time for staff and students to seek safe cover and concealment.
Internal Command Center
Tactically located within an administrative office area or designated place, the internal command center is the hub of active threat mitigation. During an active threat, it becomes the internal dispatching system for arriving law enforcement, enhancing response time by giving law enforcement temporary direct communication from staff.
Portable Safety Notification System
In large open areas like gyms, cafeterias, and playgrounds, the 3D Response System has created a portable safety notification system coded to each space. It works just like our wall-mounted police buttons. Staff in a gym or playground area simply take the button with them, and in the event of a threat, when the button is pressed, it triggers the system and lets responding law enforcement know where the threat is.
